There are 13 public beach access points within the city limits of Destin. Eleven are city-owned facilities, one site is owned by the county and one site is owned by the state. Parking is limited at the city beach access points with the exception of June White Decker and the Shores at Crystal Beach. Many access points only provide access to the beach. Public Event Information (Including Beach Weddings)
All groups of 20 or more wishing to gather or hold an event of any nature on city-owned property are required to secure a Park Event Permit through the Destin Parks & Recreation Department. Examples include, but are not limited to; weddings, anniversary parties, family reunions, company picnics, sporting events and private parties. See the list of city parks available for Park Event Permits. Beach access points are not available for permits.
The city maintains 18 parks throughout the city including eight waterfront parks (view our parks now). Okaloosa County has one public beach in Destin at James Lee Park with a pavilion and minimal parking. Henderson Beach State Park is also located in Destin on Hwy. 98 and offers pavilions, abundant parking and wedding coordination. There are also a number of hotels and condominiums in Destin that offer wedding planning services.
Okaloosa County requires an event permit to be obtained from the county for organized public gatherings of50 or more people on all county-owned property. For more information about Okaloosa County event permits, please call the Okaloosa County Public Works Department at (850) 689-5772.

|The Destin Beach Safety Patrol now has 3 beach wheelchairs. Call (850) 837-8413 during office hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday to set an appointment.
Five days in advance is recommended, but a minimum of 24 hours notice is requested. Meet at the Shirah Street Public Beach Access where handicap parking is available.
Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Service is not available on RED FLAG days. Beach safety personnel will assist with loading/unloading the chair FREE of charge.
This system is in place for your safety. Please observe and obey the Flag System and your local Lifeguard. Absence of the flag does not constitute safe swimming conditions!
